We are very proud to announce a new running total of £16,378 going directly towards assisting the important work of Macmillan Cancer Support. We were also very lucky to welcome the new general manager for Macmillan, Vicki Price, to celebrate the great achievement along with fundraising managers, Claire Husband and Donna Lee.
In May we were able to account for a total of £13,465 coming from direct policies sold. We let you know what that money could be used for, such as funding the Macmillan Direct Volunteering Scheme, the Macmillan financial guidance service and the ever-in-need Macmillan nurse. This month we can let you know what the new total is able to fund.
It costs this much to fund five Macmillan cancer information and support specialist for a month. This would mean more people affected by cancer would have someone to answer their questions and talk to about their concerns.
Could support the Macmillan financial guides to run the financial guidance service for 2 weeks, which in turn would help 194 individual cases.
This could help run a large Macmillan information and support centre for two months.
Macmillan nurses are forever in demand and this amount would fund 607 nursing hours.
Can pay for a Macmillan nurse for 4 months, helping people living with cancer and their families receive essential medical, practical and emotional support
Almost £19k can support Macmillan cancer support specialists to run the Macmillan Support Line phone service for a day. In this time, they could answer 561 calls and emails from people who want questions answered, need practical or financial support, or just want to chat.
Could pay for a fully-kitted Macmillan Information Space, including build costs, IT equipment, furniture and décor. The Space is a partitioned and furnished area within a larger area where information and support can be given to people affected by cancer. For example, the Space might be found in a hospital waiting area or library.
Without our customers we would not have been able to achieve such a great total. The money raised has come from every direct Breakdown Cover policy we have sold – so thank you for using our service and supporting Macmillan’s crucial work in supporting cancer patients.
