startrescue.co.uk has raised over £13k for Macmillan - and counting!

startrescue.co.uk has raised £13,465 which has gone directly to Macmillan Cancer Support. The money raised during startrescue.co.uk’s partnership with Macmillan will make a truly significant difference to those whose lives are affected by cancer. We have highlighted some of the main ways the funds can be used so our customers can better understand the difference  their contributions have made.

This amount can pay for the development and support of a Macmillan Direct Volunteering Scheme for one year, helping to support people affected by cancer in the community. 

Just over £6,000 could pay to run the Macmillan financial guidance service for a week. So the money raised by startrescue.co.uk so far could run the service for over 2 weeks. During these two weeks the service could help over 1,800 individual cases.

£4,418 could pay for a Macmillan nurse for a month, helping people living with cancer and their families receive essential medical, practical and emotional support. So the money raised so far would fund a Macmillan nurse for 3 months. 

To date, startrescue.co.uk and its customers have raised a massive £13,465 for Macmillan Cancer Support. That’s enough to pay for 498 nursing hours! During each hour, a Macmillan nurse can help people living with cancer and their families receive essential medical, practical and emotional support.

Next month, startrescue.co.uk will hope to post an even greater fund raising achievement. Let’s take a look at how the next milestone will help those under Macmillan’s care.

This could pay for the development and support of a Macmillan Direct Volunteering Scheme for one year to support people affected by cancer in the community. The money would also cover the costs for the training, expenses and safety systems for ten volunteers for a year to ensure that the Macmillan Direct Volunteering Scheme is well run, maintained and provide the best support available for people affected by cancer.

Almost £14k could pay for a Macmillan social worker or family support worker for six months. They work with community and social services agencies to help people manage the social and practical problems of living with cancer.
