A speeding driver in New South Wales was pursued three times by police officers before he was caught.
The chases took place on New South Wales' Pacific Highway on Saturday, but each was halted for safety reasons.
The Hyundai Accent in question was initially seen at 4pm speeding at Allgomera where it was chased briefly, but that pursuit was called off for safety reasons. Police gave chase once more at Coffs Harbour about an hour later. After that chase was abandoned, police spotted the car again at Halfway Creek – at 5.20pm.
Police were ready with road spikes during this final chase at Glenugie. While this resulted in a flat tyre, the vehicle did not stop. This chase was also abandoned once again for reasons of safety.
A short while later the car was found at Harwood Bridge, Harwood. Police approached the car and the driver tried to get away – but he collided with the officers' car, creating two big jobs for local breakdown cover providers.
The man – a 28 year old Queenslander – was arrested and charged with larceny, using a weapon to avoid apprehension, unlicensed driving and driving dangerously to avoid police.
Having evaded the authorities a full three times, it is perhaps unsurprising that the man was not granted bail. He is due to appear at Grafton court.
