Illegitimate use of a disabled parking space in the UK is viewed dimly by the authorities, who can levy a fine of up to £1,000 on offenders.
In Brazil, however, they appear to deal with such drivers a little differently. In this recent video, a car found in a disabled parking spot has been covered in blue post-it notes – together with some creatively arranged white post-it notes in the form of a disabled sign.
The owner of the vehicle returned to find his vehicle covered in hundreds of the little paper squares, before angrily wiping his windscreen.
He then attempted to drive off before realising that having post-it notes plastered on the back and sides of one's car can seriously impede one's view of the road.
He sped off after removing a few more notes.
A number of onlookers produced their phones and captured the incident, which has become an Internet sensation – racking up over 700,000 hits since it was uploaded to YouTube.
The embarrassing prank is thought to have taken place in Maringa, southern Brazil.
No doubt the driver involved will think twice before using a disabled parking spot again.
Whether or not the man in question will be contacted by police about his selection of parking space remains to be seen. They may have trouble identifying him however, since his number plate was covered – which is also illegal.
Social media has been abuzz with discussion about the incident.
