Triple F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton will "pray and hope" that Mercedes do not introduce orders at the British Grand Prix. The team fears another crash between Hamilton and teammate Nico Rosberg.
Orders "take the joy!" out of racing, Hamilton has said.
The British driver trails his German rival by 11 points, despite his victory over Rosberg at the Austrian Grand Prix on Sunday. Hamilton collided with Rosberg while racing for the lead on the final lap.
As Hamilton gears up for his home turf Grand Prix, expectations for a cracking race are building. 140,000 people are expected to turn up at Silverstone to catch the action.
The British Grand Prix is steeped in motor racing history; only the Italian Grand Prix has been going for as long.
However, the venue has changed over the years, with races being held in Brooklands, Aintree, Brands Hatch as well as Silverstone.
With such a long history, even Lewis Hamilton has a long way to go before he bags the 'most British GP wins' title. His three victories (‘08, ‘14, ‘15) are equal to those of Schumacher, Lauda and Brabham. Nigel Mansell won the race four times, but Jim Clark and Alain Prost are at the head of the pack, with five British GP wins each.
In the shorter term, Hamilton could try and get 'fastest lap' at Silverstone. Fernando Alonso currently holds this accolade (1:30:874) on the current track configuration, which has only been in existence since 2010.
Catch all the action on Saturday 11th July, from 1pm on Channel 4.
