British Touring Car Championship drivers are readying for the season's next event, at Norfolk's Snetterton circuit (8-9 August).

Gordon Sheddon will be looking to increase his 10 point lead in this year's BTCC (currently on 195), while Jason Plato (185 points) will be keen to close this modest gap. And with five races to go inclusive of Snetterton, Matt Neal (173 points), Sam Tordoff (162) and last year’s champion Colin Turkington (161) can still get their hands on some silverware.

In the manufacturer/constructor standings Honda/Dynamics enjoys a more substantial lead over MG/Triple Eight Racing, to the tune of 53 points. WSR is still in the running for second however, with 352 points.

As the second half of the season gets well underway at Snetterton, the season promises a good deal more excitement for motorsport fans.

Can Turkington be able to defend last year's championship win? The season is wide open, making for some great forthcoming races.

After Snetterton comes Knockhill on 22-23 August, followed by Rockingham on 05-06 September, Silverstone on 26-27 September and Brands Hatch 10-11 October.

Historic Snetterton

The history of this 2.99 mile venue dates back to 1959, but the circuit has changed a great deal since then. Most recently Snetterton was extended to the '300' layout for the BTCC championship.

The design of the updated circuit draws inspiration from Monza’s Parabolica and the Montreal Hairpin.
