Colin Turkington gave his BTCC championship defence hopes a big boost by winning two out of the three races at Snetterton on August 8-9.

The 2014 champion bagged the opening race from pole and was joined on the podium by his two BMR teammates Aron Smith and Jason Plato.

Having taken pole position after his first win, Turkington converted once again, bagging the second race.

But it was Jack Goff who would take the third race – his first ever BTCC win, as well as MG's first victory of the season.

Knockhill this weekend

No BTCC would be complete without a trip to Scotland’s undulating Knockhill circuit, where this year's teams will be heading on the weekend.

Knockhill in Fife near Edinburgh is the shortest track on the calendar, at just 1.27 miles. But it's no less dramatic for its brevity, with its high kerbs – which often see cars launched onto two wheels.

Last year at Knockhill Turkington attained the qualifying lap record of 51.7s, hitting a top speed of 88.21mph. He also holds the lap race record of 52.09s in which he reached 87.55mph. The omens are good for the 33 year-old Northern Irish driver.

Second placed Turkington will have his sights trained on the leader Jason Plato, but Gordon Shedden, Sam Tordoff and Andrew Jordan will also harbour big ambitions for Knockhill.
