Fans of both James Bond and fast cars were treated to a glimpse of the centrepiece car chase in the forthcoming Spectre – the British superspy's 24th cinematic outing.
A video released by the production team reveals that eight Aston Martin DB10s were delivered to the film set, each with unique modifications to aid the filming process.
Some examples of the sleek supercar were built for exterior shots, while others had roll cages fitted for stunts.
"These have been specially built for this film," said Neil Layton, action vehicles technical coordinator on Spectre.
Rome will play host to the movie's key chase scene, in which the DB10 will be up against another British sports car – the Jaguar C-X75.
A villainous Mr Hinx, played by Dave Bautista, will pit the Jag against the Aston in what promises to be a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase across the Italian capital.
"It’s going to be very iconic I think," said Bautista.
The film's director, Sam Mendes, also express excitement about the scene: "I love the idea of this fantastic car being in a sort of one-on-one battle with another incredible car from Jaguar, which is similarly extraordinary."
"So it's a cat-and-mouse game through the night-time streets of Rome, at great speed between two of the fastest cars in the world, neither of which you have ever seen before," added the director.
As excitement builds for the new Bond film, the new clip will assure fans that there will be plenty of classic action in the franchise’s new entry – after a teaser trailer that to some suggested a low-key John le Carre-style espionage film, rather than quintessential Bond.
