Finding a street in central London without any cars in it is virtually impossible – unless your name is Genaro Bardy, a photographer from Paris.
Bardy has captured the UK capital like never before, with some of the city's most famous locations snapped bereft of any cars or people.
While the images of places that include Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square and Tower Bridge may appear to be the product of some clever image manipulation, they are in fact the result of a lonely Christmas trek by Bardy.
The Frenchman ventured out on Christmas Eve and into Christmas morning, seeking to capture the capital’s most famous spots without a single person or vehicle.
Speaking to the Evening Standard, Bardy said: "It was pretty magical. For most of the night there were some people or cars, but between 4.30am and 6am, when I was around Trafalgar Square and Regent Street, I was really alone.
"It’s an incredible feeling to be alone like that in central London."
The photographer carried out a similar project in his home city of Paris the previous year.
"I don’t have a family to celebrate Christmas with and before I used to just watch TV," said Bardy, "so I'm happy to do this now.
While Bardy snapped famous locations like Tower Bridge and The Shard, his favourite photo was of a less well-known location – Northumberland Avenue.
"I love this shot, I couldn’t say why exactly," he said.
The photographs will be exhibited at the Photographes du Monde in Paris in April.
Bardy intends to photograph New York in the same way over Thanksgiving, and has his eye on Mumbai and Tokyo too, according to the Evening Standard.
