The Triumph Tiger XCx and XRx models are the two upmarket offerings in the newly expanded four-Tiger range. The most costly of these, the 94bhp, 800cc XCx, boasts a protective alloy bash-plate and engine bars - features that further boost its off-road credentials.
The UK's motorcycle press have been busy reviewing the range-topping XCx in recent weeks, resulting in some positive column inches for one of Triumph's most important new bikes for 2015. Here we highlight some key take-aways for our motorbike breakdown cover customers...
The Telegraph was impressed by the XCx, although it found it less exciting than some of its key rivals. It concluded that the bike delivered comfort and performance both on and off road – and at the agreeable price of £9,999.
Cycleworld praised the new electronics system in the XCx – helping to make it a great off-road bike, improving on an area where previous versions were found wanting. An "excellent" mid-weight adventure bike.
Bennets was also a big fan, highlighting the bike's range of upgrades and affordable price tag. The mode selection and cruise control functions gave this reviewer some problems to begin with, but he eventually got used to them.
The Mirror found the handling "delicate" and the power delivery "smooth as custard" thanks to the ride-by-wire throttle and engine modifications. One of the few gripes was that the back wheel locked too easily when using the brakes going downhill, a problem which, says the reviewer, Triumph said it would remedy before the bike goes on sale in January.
