A new app from European telematics provider, Masternaut, has been launched, aimed at making driving expense forms a thing of the past.
The new mobile app is able to log the mileage of drivers automatically while on the road.
The technology may be of great interest to large organisations that need to keep track of their employees’ mileage. Many employees’ cars are used for both work and personal life – a fact that can further complicate filling out driving expense forms.
The Masternaut app can track and monitor cars, trucks and other vehicles – not only logging distances but analysing driver performance, too.
Many companies and other organisations are no stranger to having to deal with countless expense forms from their employees. The processing of such documentation takes time and resources – and if mileage data is not logged correctly, HMRC is able to levy some heavy fines.
The maximum penalty for incorrectly filled out forms is £10m, making the Masternaut app of great interest to many organisations. Already the firm counts Travis Perkins among its clients.
The technology behind the new app is more accurate than GPS data, Masternaut claims.
Drivers can tell the app when they are driving in work or personal time, and can send their mileage data to their employers by simply tapping a 'submit' button – arguably a vast improvement upon filling out reams of expense forms.
