A new survey by Moneysupermarket.com has revealed that medical professionals are most likely to be involved in an at-fault car insurance claim.
In fact, of the top 10 professions most likely to have an accident, nine are in the field of medicine.
Surgeons top the list with 361.2 ‘at-fault’ claims per 1000 motorists with that job role.
The least likely to be involved in a prang are building society clerks; only 3.5 claims are made per 1000 drivers with this job title.
These stats were drawn from 1,934,550 claims made during the five years driving history of 11,064,736 motorists who asked for quotes from Moneysupermarket.com.
Job titles can have a big impact on premiums, which is why Moneysupermarket.com has created a tool that can 'tweak' job roles to the benefit of their customers. For example, a nurse who states he or she is a 'medical officer' would pay five per cent less.
Fortunately, not all automotive-related services are priced by profession. At startrescue.co.uk you'll receive the same superior, value-for-money car breakdown cover whether you're a surgeon or a building society clerk.
