Road rage is seldom a laughing matter, but when watching one recent video recording of an incident on a Florida highway, some might find it hard not to smile. However, we should warn you that this video does contain images of a dangerous, illegal and offensive nature.

The driver - who was dangerously recording the footage  using her mobile while operating their vehicle - aimed their mobile at a utility vehicle that was tailgating the car they were in. They then point the phone at the dashboard to establish that the vehicle they are travelling in is adhering to the local speed limit.

But the driver of the vehicle to the rear continues to travel very close, eventually deciding to overtake. As the other driver passes, the video capture continues, showing the driver making a rude gesture.

The incident of road rage is perhaps notable enough for the sheer rudeness of the over-taker, but what some might see as a karmic twist plays out next. The driver, having moved ahead, loses control of his utility vehicle and swerves onto a grass verge, ending with them facing the oncoming traffic. While the driver appears safe, not inconsiderable damage is done to his vehicle - the likes of which his vehicle recovery provider may have found challenging to address.

The video does well to highlight the perils of tailgating, speeding and not paying enough attention to the road ahead. However, the video also brings to the audiences’ attention the responsibilities of all drivers to keep the road a safe place. This accident, although caused by the aggressive driving of one, perhaps could have been avoided by the good will of another.
