Lexus
With its forthcoming NX SUV, Lexus is set to go head-to-head with the likes of the BMW X3 and the Range Rover Evoque, in what is still a hotly contested and lucrative market.
With an entry-level price tag of £29,495, the new luxury vehicle could do well. Aside from the high-end looks you would expect from the Toyota subsidiary, the first NX model – the NX 300h – may attract buyers with its petrol-electric hybrid system. Diesel engines will not be available.
While fuel consumption figures have not yet been revealed, the NX has targeted 55mpg, with outputting under 120g/km of CO2.
That figure beats the Audi Q5's 47.9mpg; 154g/km, as well as bettering the X3's 124g/km, but does not surpass that German SUV's 60.1mpg figure. The Evoque delivers 57.6mph and 129g/km.

But while the mpg figures are nothing special when compared to the competition, it is the CO2 emissions that offer customers real savings: with no 3% diesel surcharge to pay, plus low CO2 emissions, it will be the most affordable of all comparable SUVs for a company to run.
All models will feature adaptive cruise control and eight airbags, while the full-option model will include a top-of-the-range sound system and a 360 degree camera. But those seeking the range-topper will need to find an additional £13,000, priced as it is at £42,995.

If Lexus' plans go as expected, the hybrid version will account for the majority of UK sales, even after the launch of the turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol version.
