Van buyers in mainland Europe will have another large van to choose from in 2015 – namely the 3.5 tonne Hyundai H350.
The new vehicle will compliment Hyundai's mid-sized iLoad, the South Korean manufacturer's only other light goods vehicle.
Like the iLoad, the new H350 will be assembled not in east Asia but in Turkey, and will be available with only one wheelbase. However, buyers can choose from chassis cab, panel van and minibus bodystyles.
"This is an important development for us," said Allan Rushforth, senior vice president and chief operating officer for Hyundai Motor Europe, "because it supports our growth into the corporate sector in Europe."
The H350 will have a towing capacity of 2.5-tonnes and a 1.4-tonne payload.
A hexagonal front grille, reminiscent of Hyundai's cars, will be a key feature of the new model, together with LED daytime running 'wraparound' headlamps.
While an artist’s impression of the H350 has been available (pictured), we may not get to see the real thing until the Hanover CV Show on 25 September.
Many of our van breakdown cover customers may wish to know if the H350 will be available in the UK. The answer is 'probably'.
If it does go on sale, the H350 is likely to be sold to UK buyers through Hyundai's 20-strong Business Centre network, but whether or not there will be a right hand version is not yet clear, since the firm is still "looking at the viability" of such a move.
