Italian Volt's Lacama is an electric motorbike with a number of differences, all dreamed up to help the Italian start-up muscle in on the growing market for electric motorcycles.
Choice is the watchword here. Buyers can customise any one of 12 bodywork parts, meaning they can create a roadster, a scrambler, a café racer, or a machine with several of these characteristics.
The Milan-based company, which only set up shop last year, has also focused heavily on fast-charging. The machine's li-ion batteries can be charged to 80% in just 40 minutes.
The striking aluminium frame was designed in-house, enfolding cells with a capacity of 15kWh. These power the bike's motor which delivers 94hp to the rear wheel through a belt-drive system, boasting a maximum torque of 153.45 lb per foot.
Range is a respectable 112 miles, while the top speed has been limited to 112mph. At 250kg this isn’t a lightweight motorcycle, one of the reasons it takes 4.6 seconds to hit 60mph.
The designers of the Lacama haven't scrimped on high-end equipment, either. We're talking Öhlins suspension and Brembo brakes, with 17 inch wheels that come in aluminium alloy or carbon fibre.
Pre-ordering for the Lacama will open in September. The production machine will be fitted with a TFT touchscreen, GPS and iOS and Android smartphone connectivity.
The bike’s final price will depend on the options selected, but it is believed it will be around 35,000 euros (£30,000).
At present only one prototype exists, unveiled in Milan last week.
