On Tuesday the 4th of March Jaguar will unveil its XFR-S Sportbrake model at the Geneva Motor Show.
The car offers higher performance than the Saloon version, and a luxurious interior in order to get motorists to stump up the £82,495 asking price. 542bhp and 502lb/ft of torque are delivered by a supercharged 5.0 litre V8 engine, helping the Sportbrake hit 60 from standstill in just 4.6 seconds.
An impressive top speed of 186mph can be enjoyed by those in possession of a test track – or a poor grasp of traffic regulations.
With 1,675 litres of storage space (seats down) the XFR-S Sportbrake offers an impressive level of practicality, while delivering the agility and performance of the Saloon version.
An EU Combined fuel consumption of 22.2mpg is what you might expect from a car this large and high-powered. CO2 emissions are 297g/km.
Handling is assisted by Dynamic Stability Control systems and an active electronic differential. A sportier, more aggressive look has been achieved with spoiler, apron and sill revisions.
Around the 20inch forged alloy wheels are tailor-made tyres for excellent grip.
Enlarged front air intakes feed more air into the supercharger, while a symposer increases induction noise in the cabin, upping the audio thrill of driving or riding in the new Sportsbrake.
With performance and build quality such as delivered by the XFR-S Sportbrake, rivals at BMW and Audi will be at least mildly concerned at the pedigree of models coming out of Castle Bromwich. And at £82,000, one would expect it to be pretty special – and rarely encountered by breakdown insurance providers.
