Jaguar (Maksim Toome/Bigstock.com)

Alongside Lexus, Jaguar was the joint "most popular" auto brand in this year's What Car?/JD Power Survey, the only British-based car in the top 10 of that list.

In third was Mercedes Benz, followed by Skoda in fourth and Volkswagen in fifth; all three of which are German-owned.

Japanese brands Honda (6th), Toyota (8th) and Mazda (joint 9th with Kia) also featured in the top 10, with Sweden-based manufacturer Volvo coming in 7th.

In the top models list, German brands took most of the glory, with Volkswagen taking four of the top 10 spots. The Volkswagen Up! took number one, followed by the Golf Plus – also from the Wolfsburg outfit.

VW-owned Skoda bagged third position with its Yeti model. The Czech-based firm also took 7th with the Octavia.

The Mecedes-Benz C-class took fourth.

In all, six cars in the top 10 were owned by Volkswagen, while Jaguar – the only UK-based car maker on the top 10 model list, bagged the 10th slot with its XF.

The annual What Car?/JD Power Survey asked 15,000 motorists about the performance, design, comfort, features, quality and reliability of their cars. Only cars that sold more than 4,000 were featured in the respected survey.

Many of our vehicle recovery customers will find the survey interesting reading – particularly if they are considering buying a new car.
