Whenever details of a new James Bond film emerge, people usually want to know a few things in particular. Who will play the villain? Which actresses will play the Bond girls? And what car will Bond be driving?
The latter has often been an Aston Martin, and this new Bond film – called Spectre – will see the British sports car firm provide 007's transport once again. This time it's called the DB10, the latest in a 50-year procession of cars that have tied the Bond franchise with Aston.
Perhaps it is testament to how interested fans are in the latest Bond car that the DB10 was unveiled before any of the new actors. Director Sam Mendes pulled off the cover of the new car at a star-studded launch event in Pinewood Studios on December 4.
When Oscar-winning actor, Christoph Waltz was asked by the BBC about what attracted him to work in the film, he joked, "the car."
The new Aston Martin will be completed in-house, after the over-arching visual look of the car was arrived at by the firm's Chief Creative Officer, Marek Reichman, alongside the firm’s design and engineering team. Mendes was also involved in the design process.
10 DB10s will be built by Aston Martin at its site in Gaydon, Warwisckhire.
Principle photography on Spectre will start on Monday December 8, with the film due to be released in November 2015.
The film's producers remain tight-lipped about the film's plot, and also haven’t mentioned which firm Bond will be using as his breakdown insurance cover provider.
