For car enthusiasts, unless you have been living under a rock, you will know that Top Gear season 21 commenced last Sunday. Not that you need convincing to watch the forever funny and witty show, but here are 5 of our reasons why you should watch the latest series.

1)      The McLaren P1

We wrote a blog about this £866,000 machine back in February last year, and just over a year later we will be able to see if the McLaren P1 gets the Jeremy Clarkson seal of approval. The McLaren is set to enter the league and sit in the company of some of the finest cars in the world such as the Bugatti Veryon, the McLaren’s baby brother - the McLaren F1, LaFerrari and the Porsche 918 Spyder. Internet rumours are saying that at the moment, this car is one of the best cars money can buy and is almost untouchable with the exception of the LaFerrari. It is certainly one of the most exciting cars on the market, with all 375 models already sold worldwide. If the internet rumours are true, we will no doubt have a special episode in store. Will we see the new fastest car around the Top Gear test track?

2)      Laughs and Banter

If last weeks episode is anything to go by, then expect a lot of laughs and banter. These guys never disappoint! Someone who doesn’t particularly like cars would still be able to appreciate some of their humour. There was definitely a lot of humour on display in their first episode, probably an attempt to make up for its lack of features. It’s our guess that they are saving the budget for the rest of the series!

3)      Racing Top Gear style – The Alfa 4C vs. a Quadski

The upcoming trailer didn’t give away much last week, but what was clear to see is that we are in store for another famous Top Gear race involving Richard Hammond in an Alfa 4C and Jeremy Clarkson in a Quadski. For those who don’t know what a Quadski is - it is a mix between a quad bike and a jet-ski, it can reach speeds of 45mph and is driveable on both land and water. With a vehicle that can be driven on two terrains we have all the ingredients of another tense Top Gear Battle.

4)      Explosions

We don’t need to elaborate this point much further. Top Gear is famous for their explosions and this year looks to be no different, the only difference is that they look to outdo any standard previously set.

5)      The Mercedes-Benz G-Class 6x6

From the trailer it is hard to say what in fact they are doing with this “monster truck”. Needless to say it will be thoroughly tested in the only way Top Gear knows how, with absurd and near impossible obstacles. The unstoppable desert chaser was first intended for Australian military use, but Mercedes has had a change of heart and decided to make a version of the car for the general public. Keep your eyes peeled for this episode, its set to be a good one.

That is just a taster of this season’s Top Gear and if you have missed it, here is the trailer.
