If you like your SUVs, then you'll have noticed the arrival of the latest Audi Q5. Keen to make further in-roads into Range Rover and Porsche SUV market share, Audi has worked hard to challenge some stiff competition.
The Telegraph's Alex Robbins was impressed by the Q5, praising its spacious interior and good level of equipment. It did however, lose points for its high running costs and slightly dull driving experience. Robbins suggest the BMW X3 is better in all departments, giving the Q5 7/10 in his review.
WhatCar also likes the Q5's spacious interior along with its solid handling, and believes it will have a good resale value. On the downside, it says the Q5 is rather expensive compared to the competition (such as the Range Rover Evoque and the Porsche Macan) and believes the ride on the S line suspension version is too rigid. Overall WhatCar gives the Q5 4/5 stars.
AutoTrader also appreciates the Q5's spaciousness and - in common with many other reviews - loves the beautifully designed interior. Superb build quality and a choice of excellent engines garner the Q5 a five-star rating from Autotrader.
Reliability
Previous Q5s have done well in the JD Power Survey – suggesting this new Q5 won’t have new owners calling their vehicle recovery providers too often.
Key Rivals
As mentioned above, the Q5 is up against tough competition in the form of the BMW X3 and other German rival, the Porsche Macan. All three Germans have received very good reviews, although the Q5 is an expensive option. The UK-built Range Rover Evoque cannot quite match these three Teutonic invaders, although it does represent the cheapest SUV of the quartet.
