"Live long and prosper", said that most famous of Vulcans, Mr Spock. But any lucky owner of the new Aston Martin Vulcan will not manage the former unless they know what they are doing. And they may not ultimately achieve the latter because this hyper car costs £1.8m.
Well, Aston Martin has a solution for the first problem, at least. All 24 buyers of the Vulcan (that’s right, they've only built two dozen), will receive special training from Aston Martin before they take receipt.
Is it really that powerful? In a word, yes. Under the bonnet is a mighty 7.0-litre V12 engine – as found in the One77 but with power boosted to 800bhp.
Unlike Mr Spock with those pointy ears, this Vulcan is extremely aerodynamic. It boasts a new carbon-fibre body and an FIA-specification roll cage.
With space for only two people, this special edition is entirely built for the track; in fact, you won't get on the Queen's highway without breaking the law.
Power is delivered through a six speed sequential gearbox to the back wheels.
The car also features pushrod suspension and carbon-ceramic brake discs.
Here at startrescue.co.uk we think the Vulcan’s exciting design cues suggest how future Astons may look.
But any of our vehicle recovery customers keen to get hold of one will be disappointed – Aston Martin will be unable to provide you with one. All 24 Vulcans have been sold already, even though they haven’t built them yet.
On the bright side, you've just saved £1.8m.
