Renault has substantially expanded its commercial vehicle range by launching passenger-carrying versions of its Master and Trafic vans. Master buyers can order six, nine or 17 seat versions, while the medium or long-wheelbase versions of the Trafic are available with nine seats.
Buyers of the Passenger versions will be able to choose from four 1.6dCi diesel engines, namely an 89bhp (dCi 90), a 113bhp (dCi 115), a 118bhp (dCi 115) and a 138bhp (dCi 140). The latter two engines are twin-turbos, while the lower bhp engines have a single turbocharger.
The least powerful engine delivers fuel economy of 49.6mpg, going down to 42.8mpg for the range-topping 138bhp version. CO2 output ranges from 149 to 174 g/km.
Master Passenger buyers can opt for a Combi model with either six seats (wheelbase of 3.2m) or nine seats (wheelbase of 3.7m), plus rear load space. The full 17-seat minibus has a wheelbase of 4.3m.
Master models start at £22,100 before VAT, rising to an ex-VAT price of £31,500 for the top-of-the-range Business model.
All Trafic models are fitted with three rows of three seats, have rear load space, and start at £21,145 before VAT.
Trafics sold in the UK are built in Luton, except the high-roof versions which are built in Spain.
