The world of Range Rovers is becoming highly populated with abbreviations. JLR's new SVO has already produced an SVR SUV, but now it has released images of its SVAutobiography SUV, representing the poshest of all Range Rovers.
But how to distinguish between an SVR and an SVAutobiography? In short, an elaborate paint job and some fancy upholstery. At least that's the way it seems from the outside.
The new SVAutobiography will feature a Duo-tone paint job, with the top half of the vehicle in black, and the lower half in one of a choice of nine colours.
Underfoot will be a deep twist mohair carpet, while under finger will be an array of specially machined buttons and switches. Passengers in the back enjoy electric sliding tables, reclining seats and a chiller for that all-important Tattinger.
A sliding boot floor will make loading easier and will feature one of a choice of wood veneers.
Both standard and long wheelbase versions of the SVAutobiography will be available, buyers can also upgrade to a supercharged V8 542bhp engine if desired – the same one that sits in the SVR model.
Gerry McGovern, Land Rover’s Design Director and Chief Creative Officer explained: “We have taken the opportunity to optimise [the] Range Rover’s luxury execution and precision while delivering beautiful detailing that considerably enhances the customer’s experience of our flagship vehicle.”
Range Rover enthusiasts can get a closer look when the SVAutobiography is unveiled at the New York Motor Show.
Land Rover say they will also be introducing a number of improvements to smartphone connectivity in its range, including an app that enables owners to remotely check fuel levels. Another app will be able to activate the horn and lights from a distance so as to identify the vehicle in a crowded car park. However, given the SVAutobiography's unique looks, this may be surplus to requirements.
