A startrescue.co.uk story...

McLaren lovers worldwide have been poring over a new teaser action shot of the British firm’s new offering, known internally as the P13.

Aimed at the Porsche 911 Turbo market, the P13 is a more affordable incarnation of the superb 650S.

Under the sleek bonnet will be a detuned version of the 650S's 3.8 litre V8, which is likely to deliver around 500bhp.

The P13 will be imbued with a little more day-to-day pragmatism, with better access and more luggage space, but will still share the basic looks of the 650S's carbon fibre monocoque chassis.

But what about those up-swinging doors found on the more costly version? Fear not, they are present in the P13 too.

With the new ride slated for completion around spring of 2015, we may just see the P13 grace the Geneva or New York motor shows. Until then, those McLaren fans among our breakdown insurance customers will have to make do with the above image.

To get a clearer idea of McLaren’s boundary-breaking ethos, take a look at their latest social media video: It focuses on the discovery of black swans in Australia, after hundreds of years of people believing there were only white swans: as the Woking-based company explains, the black swan is "a symbol of a moment that challenges beliefs and turns thinking upside-down."
