Whether you benefit from our car, motorcycle or van breakdown insurance, the chances are that you give at least one iota of attention to how your vehicle looks. But the Vauxhall Adam has taken automotive narcissism to a new level, enabling a previously unheard of level of customisability.
According to Vauxhall, there are thousands upon thousands of body and trim combinations available with this car, which has been specifically designed for women. In fact, in a prediction that has never occurred in the world of car making before, Vauxhall expect the female/male split in buyers to be 60/40.
From interior roof panels with blinking LED lights, to those with white fluffy clouds, there are almost limitless ways to customise this car.
The influence women have over car purchase decisions, both relating to their own personal car purchases, or those they take with their partner, has long been of interest to the world’s car builders. But the Adam is the first to attempt to engage women in such a direct manner.
Will it work? Time will tell, but some may look upon the Adam as a rather toy-like car that has more in common with a trip to Accessorize than with doing the shopping or dropping the kids off to school. But then again, perhaps the Adam is less about family chores, and more about being young, free and single. And female.
