The Czech-based auto maker Skoda has confirmed that prices for its 2014 Yeti model will start at £16,600. The styling of the new Yeti has been revamped, with a more angular look than the previous version.

Re-styled front wings, headlights, bumpers and bonnet all contribute to a vehicle that looks a little more ‘21st Century’ than the previous model.

The Volkswagen-owned brand has divided its range into a selection of standard models and a choice of Outdoor models. Standard vehicles feature colour coded bumpers, while Outdoor vehicles come with a more SUV-like front bumper and additional black cladding.

There will be a good selection of engines to choose from, too, with two petrol and four diesel options. The line-up starts with the 105bhp 1.2 L TSI petrol unit, ranging up to the 170bhp 2.0 TDI diesel. Those particularly keen on fuel economy will be drawn to the 1.6 TDI Greenline II, which also emits just 119 grams of CO2 per kilometre.

Those buying a standard model can choose from S, SE or Elegance trim, while purchasers of the Outdoor model can choose L&K trim, and four-wheel drive.

Well-known and indeed loved for its keen pricing, Skoda’s updated Yeti – in its entry level form – will cost £1,350 more than the lowest priced previous model. Prices vary a great deal, ranging from £16,600 for the cheapest 1.2 TSI S, up to £27,050 for an all-singing all-dancing 2.0-litre TDI 170 4x4 Outdoor L&K DSG.

Under the stewardship of VW, the Skoda brand has gone from strength to strength in recent years. This follows many decades of being a brand that was a little too well known among annual breakdown cover providers. It has now received many awards for its reliability.
