A new survey by Tootcompare.com has listed the 10 cars most likely to fail their first MOT. The report was compiled from data supplied by the Vehicle Operator and Services Agency (VOSA), and does not take into account car models that were tested less than 1,000 times.

The list makes some interesting reading, particularly for those who are looking for a reliable car, although some failures may be due to poor maintenance by the owner. And as a provider of insurance for car breakdowns, it is fascinating reading for us here at startrescue.co.uk, too.

Four French brands make up the most-failed models, two of which are Citroën. Chevrolet has two cars in the list, the Captiva and the Aveo.

Cars in the UK must undertake an MOT test three years after the date they are registered. The cars in this list were registered in 2010 and then MOT’d in 2013.
