Rolls Royce has unveiled its most powerful, intelligent car yet, at the Geneva Motor Show.

The Wraith, endowed with a 624 horse power engine and the ability to reach 60 from standstill in just 4.4 seconds, will cost in excess of £200,000 when it arrives in showrooms later in 2013.

In terms of style, too, it is perhaps the biggest departure yet for the luxury car brand, and has been created to challenge people’s perception of the Rolls Royce marque – according to the firm’s chief executive, Torsten Muller-Otvos.

Many commentators have said the new Wraith possesses some similarities with the Bentley Continental GT. However, when asked about this at the Geneva Motor Show, Muller-Otvos insisted the opposite, and more importantly that Rolls Royce did not see their new car as a direct competitor to the GT.

Muller-Otvos also said, “many people in this segment don't see the Continental as exclusive anymore.”

The Geneva Motor Show is one of the most prestigious and well-covered in the industry, and so is an ideal place to publicly downplay the prowess of competitors.

Bentley’s best selling cars are available for about £130,000, while Rolls Royce’s tend towards the £200,000 part of the luxury car spectrum.

Never break down?

While a Rolls may cost  substantially  more than a Bentley, at least owners can feel safe in the knowledge that their car will not break down – or at least that is what the famous company insists. If true, the necessity to find European breakdown cover or indeed any other breakdown policy, should never be required. For the rest of us, startrescue.co.uk offers some very affordable options.
