A startrescue.co.uk story...

Experiencing an overheated engine due to too much sunshine is not a problem faced by many British motorists (or by extension our own vehicle recovery operatives), but in theMiddle East, overheating is a prime concern for many car buyers.

That's why Aston Martin has been heat testing its new Lagonda out inOmanrecently; the car will only be available inOmanand other Middle Eastern states.

The brand is being revived after years of commercial hibernation, but only the richest of inhabitants in countries likeQatar,DubaiandSaudi Arabiawill be able to get behind the wheel of one. And even then buyers can only place an order if they have been personally invited to do so by the British sports car firm.

Pictures of the new car have been leaked by Oman Air, the airline contracted to get the machine out into the heat ofOmanfor testing.

If you're a fan of the Lagonda marque – which hasn't been built since 1989 – then you'll see the resemblance in the new machine. It is inspired by the 1976 V8 Lagonda saloon, designed byWilliamTowns.

The classic Aston Martin grille is also present, in a more exaggerated form.

Why can't UK buyers purchase one?

There is no official reason for only offering the car to Middle Eastern motorists, but one thing is for sure: there will be plenty of buyers with the requisite funds and desire in this region.

The car has been described as "a piece of exceptional automotive art" by Aston Martin.

…A piece of art that the rest of the world may have to wait a very long time to experience.
