Looking for a cheap alternative to a satnav? Well, if you own a smartphone there may be the perfect option, in the form of the Patrona Connector Face and Connector Dash magnetic phone holders.
The product enables you to attach your phone to the dash of your car, enabling you to use a system such as Google Maps (with GPS enabled) in order to find your way around – and you'll always know exactly where you are.
So are the likes of Garmin and TomTom going the way of the dodo?
Possibly, but there are a few snags (quite literally) with the Patrona. Although the two connectors look very stylish (one for the dash and one for your phone) and although the magnets are powerful and – very importantly – won't wipe you phone's memory, it does cost between £30 and £40.
It's still cheaper than many satnavs (assuming you own a smartphone), but for two pieces of metal it may seem a bit steep.
The other problem is that the connectors have rather sharp edges, which can be an issue for a product that your hand comes into contact with over and over again.
But the system works. It keeps your phone attached to the dash no matter how erratically you drive, therefore not corrupting your precious data. It could be the perfect thing for your next European road trip:
