If you’re looking for a new motorcycle that has all the power and technological prowess of a modern bike, but with the looks of something a little more classic, then the Moto Guzzi V7 Racer might just be for you.

The critics have been quick to point out that its performance and handling are in fact noticeably wanting when compared to the preceding V7 Special, but what this motorcycle does have is looks.

It appears to have given more than a nod to classic Italian bikes of the sixties, whilst maintaining an air or authenticity about it; in short, it isn’t a cheesy, overly-retro vehicle.

But with a top speed of 110mph (even though it looks like it should do 150mph) and a 4.8 gallon fuel tank that can take you 310 miles, this is still much more than a superficially beautiful bike. True, its handling is less sharp that its predecessor and by all accounts it is not as comfortable to ride, but what will make people pay the additional £1,000 (compared to the V7 Special) is the fact that it looks so fantastic. It’s certainly going to be a reliable, fun ride that won’t have you calling upon your motorbike breakdown cover too often.

While many people’s heads will be shouting ‘go for the sensible version and save some money’, there will be many a bike-lover’s heart that will be screaming ‘buy the racer, now!’
