A startrescue.co.uk story...

Even though this blog is part of a car breakdown insurance provider's website, there come occasions when we simply cannot ignore those kinds of cars that seldom breakdown. One of those will surely be the Jaguar F-Type.

We don't know yet of course, but if the new sports car is anything like its predecessor, it should be a reliable vehicle indeed. But reliability won't be the car's biggest selling point. It's a sports car after all, and Jaguar lovers from around the world will be salivating over the prospect of a new sports car from this famous marque. The success of the new car will of course be based on the joy of speed and great handling.

And Jaguar - or rather its ambitious Indian owners Tata - aren't hanging around either. They plan to launch the new F-Type by the middle of 2013. The car will be based on a concept car that was unveiled in 2011, namely the C-X16.

Some of the tasty specs include the car's ability to accelerate from zero to 62mph in 4.4 seconds, whilst emitting just 165g/km of CO2. The car will also boast the Kers system (Kinetic Energy Recovery System), which has been developed for Formula 1. The technology allows for a rear mounted 1.6kWh lithium-ion battery pack to be charged via an axle electro-hydraulic brake energy regeneration system. This charge can be later used to aid acceleration.

As the months pass we will get an even better idea of what the new Jaguar F-Type will look like.
