The Volkswagen Up was the first to arrive, followed soon after by the Skoda CitiGo – which looked remarkably alike. And now we have the Seat Mii, which, you guessed it, looks very similar to the Skoda and the VW. A quick look behind the scenes of these brands and you see that all three are now under the caring wing of VW, which is doing a good job of having a local brand selling its New Small Family Car series in every part of Europe.

Unlike with Skoda, which had a reputation for suffering a car breakdown on too many occasions, when VW took on Seat they knew they had a good solid brand to work with. But looking at the new Mii, many will be wondering where the Seat bits actually are – because the model looks for all intents and purposes a VW Up.

The Mii is to be unleashed upon the Spanish market in winter of this year, but poor old British buyers will have to wait until early-mid 2012 before they can even order one of the new city cars.

As with the UP, the Mii is pretty much the same length – at 3550mm and is to be available as only a three door to begin with. Towards the end of 2012 there will be a 5 door version available. While the whole feel of the car is very similar to the Up, the headlamps do look a big suspect: very large and not particularly pleasant for other motorists when seen dead ahead or in the rear-view mirror.

In terms of other numbers, it is very similar to the CitiGo and the VW: just 251 litres of space available and a 2420mm wheelbase that ensures there is plenty of space on board.
