Italian superbike manufacturer Ducati has revealed details of its updated 2013 Multistrada range, with machines at the very top of this line-up benefiting from the company's brand new 'Skyhook' technology – an innovative semi-active suspension system.
In total there will be four models (as with the previous line-up) – all significantly revised. The new Multistrada 1200S 'Granturismo' will become the range's flagship machine, replacing the current 1200S Sport model.
Among the other changes to the range is a new paint job for the Pikes Peak. All models will retain the well loved and pioneering Riding Mode system, which enables the rider to change the engine mapping between four different presets at the flick of a switch. On the S models, Riding Mode will adjust the suspension in a manner best suited to the terrain. They will also feature Ducati's switchable traction system (DTC).
Many of our motorbike breakdown cover customers will no doubt be interested to find out more about the Ducati Skyhook Suspension System (DSS). As more details emerge, we will bring you more on this ground breaking piece of technology.
It seems that Ducati has been given the freedom to invest in exciting new technologies despite being a subsidiary of Lamborghini - which is itself a subsidiary of Germany's Audi - a commercial set-up that can sometimes see smaller subsidiaries losing power and influence over their products.
