The sozzled British and German tourists may have departed, but there's still some later autumnal sunshine to be enjoyed in Andalusia, Spain. Admittedly, the nights are getting a bit chillier, but if you need some reliable vitamin D, the cloudless Spanish south is the place to go.
First, take a ferry from the UK. Plymouth and Portsmouth have services directly to Spain, while Dover-Calais is an option if you want to enjoy some French countryside first. On arrival there are numerous routes you can take to reach Andalusia – on generally excellent Spanish roads.
The town of Malaga is a good place to head for to begin your adventure in this inspiring region. As well as having one of the warmest winters in Europe (averaging 17 degrees in the daytime), Malaga is also the birthplace of Picasso – so a visit to his birth house (and museum) is a must.
Further east you'll find Axarquia, which offers caves, castles and beautiful lush gardens. If you can't visit Spain without a visit to a beach (and who could?) then Nerja is a must. But as well as glorious sandy beaches, don's miss the Caves of Nerja, or the 10th Century Arab built castle, Frigiliana.
Cabo de Gata National Park is just one of the highlights of Almeria, where you'll also discover beautiful coastal towns, caves and deserted roads.
November is a great time to visit Andalusia by car. And if you need to find European Breakdown Cover for such a trip, fear not, you can get it right here.
