Carlos Tevez may face a prison sentence having been found guilty of driving whilst disqualified. The news will be especially unwelcome for Manchester City as the FA cup semi-finals loom.

Tevez will appear at Macclesfield magistrates on the 3rd of April, where the case will be heard. The court appearance will take place five days before the high pressure Manchester derby, and a few days after the FA cup semi-final with either Manchester United or Chelsea.

The striker had been arrested last week after having been caught for allegedly driving a vehicle whilst disqualified – 7 weeks into a six month ban. He was spotted by police on the A538 driving a Porsche Cayenne.

Despite the stress of a previous court appearance in which he pleaded guilty to failing to supply information related to alleged speeding offences – two counts – the Argentine still managed to score three goals in Saturday’s 5-0 demolition of Barnsley in the FA cup. In his defence, Tevez argued he did not respond to police notices because he was unfamiliar with the word ‘constabulary’.

Whatever the outcome of the upcoming court case, looking for vehicle recovery cover will not be a pressing issue for Mr Tevez. While it is possible that he will face up to 6 months in jail, he may alternatively get community service or an anti-social behaviour order. He may also face a fine of up to £5,000.
