As one of the UK’s leading vehicle recovery providers, we see cars, vans and motorbikes in all kinds of conditions. But very few are ever in the state that one Chinese woman’s car got into – after a container being carried by a lorry slipped off and crushed her Nissan.
Miraculously, the lady driver sustained no serious injuries in the incident, after, according to Metro, she slipped “into the footwell”. Either the Nissan she was in had a very big footwell, or the woman in question is particularly small, since the situation makes one wonder how anyone could escape alive from such a wreck.
Firefighters in Zhangjiagang, China, where the incident took place, were amazed to pull the driver from the half-squashed car after the container was removed.
She had been driving in the lane next to the container lorry when the weight of the cargo caused the container to slip off onto the car, although the precise reasons why such a potentially fatal incident could take place are not yet clear.
China’s roads are increasingly busy as more and more people purchase cars. Equally, as China’s economy picks up after a recent lull, containers such as the one that fell off are likely to increase in number, as exports rise once again. The incident will no doubt cause many Chinese to question how good safety regulations are in relation to securing shipping containers to lorries.
