For most of us, the vehicles we drive are not that exciting. Driving generally, many might argue, doesn't get much more thrilling than noticing Sainsbury's have dropped their petrol prices, or being able to buy Vehicle breakdown cover for less than you did last year. But sometimes, a car comes along that really ignites your passion for driving. And that car just might be the McLaren 12C Spider.
Even if you don't have the requisite cash sum of £195,000, you can still revel in its majesty. At least that's what Telegraph motoring correspondent Neil Lyndon thinks, and here at startrescue.co.uk, we'd be inclined to agree. In fact, Lyndon thinks it's the best car in the world.
0-60mph in 3 seconds? Check. 0-100 in 6 seconds. Check. Technology based on a Formula 1 car? Check. 3.8 litre V8 engine with 610bhp? Check. You get the idea.
The 12C, which improves upon its predecessor the MP4-12C by some way, is also impressive in the scope of its handling. Whether you're hitting the car's top speed of 205mph, or taking the car for a gentle pootle to the nearest supermarket to buy cheap petrol (not a likely excursion for a 12C owner), this car is a dream to drive.
Whether it's the best car in the world or not is difficult to say for sure, but it's certainly in the same league as the Ferrari Italia 458s of this world. And what's more, the 12C is entirely British; owned, designed and built. And even if you're not a patriotic type of millionaire, chances are you'll be tempted by this dream machine. For the rest of us, reading (and writing) blogs about the 12C will have to suffice for now.
