startrescue.co.uk is able to provide all manner of vehicle recovery policies – from annual car and motorcycle cover right through to van breakdown cover. But one mode of transport currently being considered by us is the cargo bike.
Admittedly, the most bang-up-to-date versions of the cargo bike probably won’t go wrong anyway – they are essentially bikes or tricycles with child-sized containers attached to them. But simple as they are, many families are starting to realise the benefits of transporting their younger members around in such a vehicle.
The biggest plus point is perhaps that they are very environmentally friendly – even if you buy the motor-assisted version, which is electric. But there is also the saving of petrol costs, and the fact that they are, by all accounts, a great deal of fun to ride and ride in.
The only drawback is the price. The very latest cargo bike, from Dutch bike maker Bakfiets, will cost you a cool £1,810, while the version fitted with the hill-busting motor will cost you £2,910. While fun and very green, for many, the prospect of spending nearly three grand on a bike just isn’t an option.
Just don’t let your kids catch sight of one these colourful contraptions or you’ll never hear the last of it!
